The sound quality is much better than the show done in Rio a few days after. Just one thing though, the name of the city is São Paulo not Sao Paolo, as some bootlegs insist to print.
ReplyDeleteI was living in Rio at the time and the buzz caused by Genesis being in town was unforgetable. As I remember it, they played at a football/soccer field in São Paulo (Ibirapuera) and Porto Alegre (Beira Rio), and at a basketball gymnasium in Rio (Maracanãzinho); which is why the recording in Rio is so poor. With concrete bleechers surrounding the whole court, the echo is just terrible and many great bands, such as Police and Van Halen suffered the same fate. At the time, it was the only place big enough for bands with large fan base to play. Nowadays there are better options and Maracanãzinho is used only for sports. Happy ending.
Anyway, this show in São Paulo is really great and happened on jun 21st 1977.
